although i don’t have babies of my own any longer (well, we call six-year-old blue “the baby,” and he puts up with it…), i have been praying for ways to encourage younger mamas.

as a birth photographer, i grow close to my clients, blessed to be with them at life-changing moments, and i wanted a gift for a new mama that would be useful on a daily basis.  reading this article at breastfeeding place, where i’ve recently become a guest author, reminded me of the new-mama-daze, when even feeding baby sometimes seemed overwhelming.  i decided to make a fun nursing cover for my sweet client and friend, in hopes that she’d be given one more boost of confidence as she becomes all that she’s called to be in new motherhood.

 

calling for just under a yard and a half total (and you might, if you’re a fabric-a-holic like me, just have that much in your scrap bin), this project only required a few items from the fabric store.  it total, it took about an hour to make.

 

 

 

this nursing cover is one i’d wear if i had a little one (and oh, how i ache for those days again.  nurturing takes on a new daily look when they grow taller than their mama…), and i hope my dear friend will enjoy it!
