enjoy the ride {trusting God}

click, click, click, click.  up the tracks we go, and the flutter in the belly intensifies, as we prepare yet another offer on yet another home.  what will they say?  will they counter?  will it be too much?  how much is too much?  how long do we wait? how do we discern, and how do we account for seven opinions on such an important matter??

wait on Me, little one.

click, click, click.  the peak looms ahead, and we grip tight to the hope of what is to come.  we pray and we study and we listen to expert advice, and we compare and we chew on all the possible outcomes of this potential investment.  we listen to the input of our very opinionated children and our very wise counsel, and we pray more.  and the little car continues up the proverbial roller coaster track, and we wonder if this time, the answer will feel like a fast plummet to the bottom of a steep hill (my very least favorite kind of all!), or if it will swoosh into the twisties and turns that yes, bring excitement, but don’t have the panicky feeling of a straight drop.  if the answer will be a “no,” or a “wait,” or the long awaited “yes” that will signal a temporary settling in this current life.

sshhhhh… wait.

for His glory

we question and we counter and we research more.  we let go the “no’s” and we listen again.  we give thanks for where we are and we long for what is to come.  we ask why the wait, and we remember that in quietness and trust, we will be stronger.

and so we wait, and this stretch of the journey changes us.  it allows us to anticipate with joy, and to set aside fear.  to recognize that we are not controlled by our surroundings and our circumstances, but in faith, we can begin to be molded in them for our good, and for His glory.

wait on me, little one, and you will rise up in strength.

i do not know the twists and turns that come next.  i do not know the home we will have next here this side of Home.  but i know that with Grace, i can throw my hands to the sky and scream with delight and enjoy the ride.  and i will be all the stronger for it.

” I won’t fear what tomorrow brings
With each morning I’ll rise and sing
My God’s love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
You are the peace in my troubled sea”

(from “my lighthouse” by rend collective)

tell me, friend – do you have a present situation that causes that not-so-fun flutter in your stomach?  please share and let’s dare each other to enjoy the ride.  (want a soundtrack to bring home the thought?  we’ve got this one stuck on repeat in our house.  have a listen!)

    I can relate to the roller coaster ride feeling of life! But you’re spot-on–we need to raise our hands and shout out praise–whether it feels like we’re going up or down!

    As a religious person I agreed with you that while enjoying the ride you should trust on God. Trusting God means releasing our grip on trying to control every aspect of our lives.
