hanh and her crew have gotten a good thing started. “we’re not just a sushi place,” she says. “we’re modern and we’re fun and we serve a whole lot more than sushi.”
you can find everything from the innovative Sashimi-Tini (our six year old ate sashimi for the first time with such a lovely presentation!), to Tuna Tataki (seared to perfection and served with citrus ponzu sauce), pork dumplings, grilled Maine lobster tail, Filet Mignon, and Korean Style short ribs.
of course, the sushi they do serve is delicious.
the “lollipop” is a rice-free offering that has raw tuna, cucumber, cream cheese, and secret sauce that’s light and refreshing.
this Hawaii-Five-O roll is almost a dessert; it’s not too sweet, but has a surprising addition of sweet potato fries, mango, and coconut marmalade that make it delightfully unusual.
a variety of dessert offerings includes the chocolate pyramid (dulce de leche mousse with diced pears and spiced genoise in a milk and white chocolate pyramid), chocolate trilogy, and tempura fried ice cream (go early – this could run out!), among others, both traditional and very American.
the decor is modern, and the owners have made a visible, intentional decision to offer current music and an atmosphere that is at once hip and family-friendly. we’d enjoy a date night out just as much as we enjoyed spending time with Nana and a “selection” of our kiddos.
