recently the ladies at our church threw a vintage bookstore themed “tea” bridal shower for a soon-to-be-bride. a-girl and i created these heart-shaped macarons to grace the tea table. (yes, i made blue macarons. it was an artistic decision when my partner in crime was away from the mixing bowl. don’t ask why. it just felt fun!)
we began by using Martha Stewart’s basic macaron recipe, and spread our creative wings from there. for the buttercream, we used salted butter (i love the added flavor depth) and fresh blackberries, which we pureed along with some confectioner’s sugar. for someone who prefers not to have the seeds, you may prefer to use a blackberry reduction.
do you have a favorite macaron recipe? do tell.
